RSC has worked with several outstanding genetics labs, including the following:
1. Reprogenetics is a private genetics lab that has been specializing in PGD and PGS since 1991. Their founders, Dr. Santiago Munné and Dr. Jaques Cohen, have been leaders in the field. Reprogenetics provides testing through PCR, FISH, aCGH and soon SNP.
2. Genesis Genetics is located in Detroit. Dr. Mark Hughes, its founder and medical director has been a leader in the field of genetics, specializing in the diagnosis of single gene disorders.
3. Reproductive Genetics Institute (RGI) is in Chicago. They also have a special focus in single gene disorders and an emphasis on polar body biopsy.
4. Natera is a California-based genetics lab that uses the SNP assay of each parent and compares it with each embryo to generate a calculation of whether the embryo is normal or not. SNP assays have the same advantage of CGH in that the whole genome is analyzed. ICSI is also required. Natera also utilizes information SNP analysis from each parent to interpret the data from the embryo.
| Type of Test | Indication | Is ICSI Required? | Day of Biopsy | Genetics Reference Lab |
| PCR DNA amplification technique |
Single gene disorders | Yes | Typically Day 3 with fresh transfer |
|
| FISH Detection of chromosome number (limited to 12 of the 23 chromosomes) |
Chromosomal Problems and Gender | No | Day 3 with fresh transfer or Day 5 biopsy with frozen transfer |
|
| CGH Detection of chromosome number (all 23) |
Chromosomal Problems | Yes | Day 3 with fresh transfer or Day 5 biopsy with frozen transfer |
|
| SNPWhole genome analysis | Single gene disorders and chromosomal problems | Yes | Day 3 with fresh transfer Day 5 biopsy with frozen transfer |
