Top IVF practice’s new physician brings cutting-edge research talent

SAN RAMON, CALIFORNIADeborah Wachs, M.D. will join Reproductive Science Center of the San Francisco Bay Area, one of the nation’s first private IVF centers. Wachs, who brings the group’s number of IVF specialists to a total of six, will see patients at RSC’s San Jose and San Ramon clinics, two of RSC’s four Bay Area locations.

“I am excited to join a team that offers the newest and most effective medical treatments for people experiencing infertility, as well as providing the emotional support which is so critical to successful treatment.” – Dr. Wachs

“To join RSC’s team of renowned veterans and state-of-the art facilities is a dream come true.” Prior to her work with RSC, Wachs treated patients at Reproductive Partners – UCSD Regional Fertility Center in La Jolla, California.

“When we first met Dr. Wachs during a month-long elective rotation during her residency training in 2002, we knew at once that we would be fortunate to have a doctor with such impeccable credentials and great bedside manner on our team,” said Louis Weckstein, M.D., RSC’s IVF and medical director.

Following her graduation from the Georgetown University School of Medicine with highest honors, Wachs completed her fellowship training in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the University of California, San Diego, and her obstetrics and gynecology residency at Kaiser Foundation Hospital in San Francisco. During that time she received extensive clinical training in reproductive surgery, ovulation induction, and in vitro fertilization (IVF).

She also participated in several federally funded research studies on polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a common but widely misunderstood cause of infertility in women.

She has published several scientific research papers in peer-reviewed journals and authored textbook chapters on this topic. Her other areas of special interest include diminished ovarian reserve, recurrent pregnancy loss, and preimplantation genetic screening.

Wachs is a Certified Diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Junior Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine.
