RSCBA Celebrates Infertility Awareness

#HaveAHeart & #StartAsking

#HaveAHeart | Graphic | National Infertility Awareness Week The week of April 24-30, 2016 is National Infertility Awareness Week.

At RSC, you will see our staff wearing an orange heart pin during National Infertility Awareness Week (NIAW), April 24-30, 2016. Orange is the combination of red, which is a color used to symbolize love, and yellow, which symbolizes happiness. Since ancient times, the color orange has been used to symbolize fertility.

The orange heart is part of our #HaveAHeart campaign that signifies our support for those facing infertility. It’s our way of personalizing at a local level the momentum of National Infertility Awareness Week in raising awareness and offering support to those affected. #HaveAHeart complements Resolve’s social media campaign #StartAsking.

For many, the struggle with infertility is invisible and we want them to know that it does not have to be. Support can be found in many ways and in many places.

Recently, I was walking through the office on my way to the operating room. A couple I had never met before was waiting in the pre-operative area and appeared to be extremely anxious. I said “Good Morning,” and they smiled, looked up and said thank you.

Later in the day, one of our nursing staff told me that the brief encounter was a wonderful moment of support for the couple. They commented, “He did not even know us, but said ‘Hi.’ That meant a lot to us.”

Remember, all of us here at the Reproductive Science Center of the Bay Area are with you on your fertility journey. You are not alone.
