To help our patients afford the cost of in vitro fertilization (IVF) and infertility treatment, Reproductive Science Center of the San Francisco Bay Area (RSC) provides multiple options for fertility treatment financing, including options for self-pay financing. Our free insurance and financial counseling service helps patients make the best decisions possible on making the treatment they need affordable.
Infertility health insurance resources
In an effort to provide the highest level of comprehensive care and service, our financial team is available to explain the costs of treatment and the extent of insurance coverage prior to a treatment cycle.
We know that understanding insurance benefits or obtaining the necessary referrals or pre-authorizations to begin treatment can be very confusing. It is important to have a good handle on the pre-treatment processes that are required by your insurance plan.
Coverage at Work helps patients gain new or expanded benefits to help cover treatment costs through benefits provided by an employer. Most employers aren’t aware of a gap in benefits they offer until it’s brought to their attention.
Coverage at Work offers a toolkit, advice on creating a plan and asking for coverage, and other resources to give to your employer. And you get access to individual coaching with the RESOLVE team for any questions along the way.
Fertility treatment coverage through the Progyny network
RSC provides comprehensive services for Progyny network members. Unlike most infertility insurance coverage, Progyny does not focus on infertility treatment costs; it focuses on outcomes, which is the reason why RSC is a valued member of the Progyny network.
Ask your human resources department if your employer offers Progyny. You can also contact Progyny at [email protected] or 212-888-3124.
RSC is partnering with fertility financing specialists CapexMD to offer our patients the most comprehensive financing options available, with customized loan programs to meet their individual needs and help ease the financial stress of treatment.
CapexMD specializes in providing patient financing services for all fertility treatment options. With their easy loan process and competitive rates, CapexMD ensures the financial aspects of treatment are not an obstacle to achieving your dream of a family. Each loan program is designed to fit your individual circumstances and once approved, their fertility loan specialists will work closely with RSC to ensure your funds are secured prior to the commencement of your treatment.

Discount programs for IVF cost & fertility treatments
Self pay patients who need help paying for their medications can consider the ReUnite Rx programs. They offer a range of discounts for veterans, cancer patients and other need-based assistance.
In addition, ReUnite Reassurance Program helps offset medication costs for eligible patients affected from COVID-19. Learn more about eligibility.
In honor of American servicemen and servicewomen, RSC is offering a 10% IVF cycle discount to all active duty military personnel and their families.
RSC offers a $99 Fertility Check, which includes a blood draw to assess ovarian reserve, a written report and follow-up phone call by one of our physicians to review results.
Fertility treatment can be stressful and draining, and RSC wants to help make sure patients can focus on getting pregnant and having a baby, rather than on paying for it. That is why we are proud to partner with Fertility Access, which offers several IVF cost refund and multi-cycle discounts for patients.
Fertility Access is offered by US Fertility, a new group of premier fertility centers across the country that RSC of the San Francisco Bay Area recently has joined. Depending upon the program chosen and their treatment plan, patients can save up to 40% by bundling fees.
EMD Serono Compassionate Care and Compassionate Corps discount programs
Compassionate Care was designed to make fertility treatments more affordable for eligible, self-pay patients without insurance or compassionate corps coverage for fertility medication. Financial aid ranges from 10% to 50% based on need.
The Compassionate Corps Program by EMD Serono helps eligible, uninsured veterans injured in the line of duty or their spouses. To be eligible for the Compassionate Corps Program, you must be a retired member of the military or the spouse of one who:

- Is not privately or publicly insured for infertility medications.
- Is medically retired.
- Has been diagnosed by a physician as infertile and requiring in vitro fertilization (IVF) or other assisted reproductive technologies (ART).
- Is not eligible for coverage under the Fertility Veterans Act.
Grant programs for fertility treatments
The Tinina Q. Cade Foundation (Cade Foundation)
The Tinina Q. Cade Foundation is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote awareness of infertility and serve the needs of couples struggling with infertility by providing educational resources and financial assistance to help them grow their families. The foundation prides itself on three main goals:
- To serve the community by providing education on infertility and related issues, working alone as well as in partnership with other organizations.
- To provide financial assistance for families struggling with infertility who are either pursuing treatment or domestic adoption through grants.
- To raise funds that will be used to provide grants for families pursuing fertility treatment or domestic adoption.
Each year the foundation provides selected infertile families up to $10,000 to assist with the costs associated with infertility treatment or domestic adoption.
The Tinina Q. Cade Foundation’s Family Building Grant provides up to $10,000 per funded family to help with costs of domestic adoption and medical fertility treatment. The only restrictions for applying are:
- You must have a diagnosis of infertility from your doctor.
- You must be a legal permanent U.S. resident.
There are no age limitations or other restrictions currently. The grant is offered twice per year, and the number of applications funded as well as the amount of funding depends on the success of the Cade Foundation’s fundraising activities (i.e. the more they raise, the more they can give away).

RSC is pleased to sponsor the Corks with Cade fundraising event for the Tinina Q. Cade Foundation. Including our 2020 event, we’ve raised over $62,000 for the foundation.
