RSC is a leading San Francisco infertility network that has proudly served the Bay Area for more than 35 years. When it comes to treating infertility, RSC is a leading pioneer and we’ll work with you to help achieve your dreams of having a baby.
Our services include several fertility treatment options, from basic infertility treatments to the most advanced IVF assisted reproductive procedures, as well as counseling and alternative family building options.
Our infertility treatments
Affordable Fertility Testing
RSC’s Fertility Check includes a blood draw to assess ovarian reserve, a written report and follow up phone call by one of our physicians to review results.
In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)
In vitro fertilization (IVF) is the most successful method of infertility treatment. IVF specialists combine the sperm and the egg (oocyte) for fertilization to occur, then the resulting embryos are transferred to the uterus to develop into a pregnancy.
Fertility Preservation
Fertility preservation is the act of saving one’s ability to have children at a later point in life through cryopreservation of eggs, sperm or embryos. Preservation may be pursued for lifestyle reasons such as waiting to have children until later in life or medical reasons such as a diagnosis of cancer.
Preimplantation Genetic Testing
PGT is a lab process that evaluates embryos for genetic defects that may cause miscarriage, birth defects or genetic diseases. PGT can be used before IVF to help identify healthy embryos.
Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)
With intrauterine insemination (IUI), also referred to as artificial insemination, millions of sperm are placed directly into the uterus when the woman is most fertile, immediately prior to and during ovulation.
Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)
Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) is a laboratory procedure developed to help infertile couples undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF) due to male factor infertility.
Surgical Options
In recent years, microsurgery – an operation using the magnification of an operating microscope or a laparoscope – has led to dramatic advances infertility treatments.
Fertility Drugs
In general, infertility drugs work by releasing the hormones that either initiate ovulation or regulate it. Some are taken by mouth, and others are injected.
Infertility Diagnosis
When should you get help from a fertility specialist? How is infertility diagnosed? A thorough fertility evaluation of both partners may determine the cause of infertility and the most appropriate treatment to help them get pregnant.
Third-party reproduction services
LGBTQIA
Egg donation, surrogacy, gestational carrier, embryo donation – all have become accepted means to treating special fertility challenges. Yet many couples hesitate to pursue third-party parenting because it is a newer, more complicated process.
Single Parents by Choice
At RSC, we feel that the choice to become a parent is an individual one, which is why RSC welcomes single individuals who want to use assisted reproductive technology to begin their families.
Using Donor Eggs with IVF
Egg donation has brought new hope and joy to thousands of couples, single women and LGBTQIA families who might be unable to have a child of their own. The donated eggs are fertilized via IVF using sperm of the recipient’s partner (or donated sperm), with the resulting embryo implanted in the receiving woman’s womb to establish pregnancy.
Egg Donation Registries
In order to provide patients with the most high-quality and diverse egg selection possible, RSC contracts with three top national and international egg banks. This means that RSC patients can choose eggs from all over the world for the most diverse selection of donor eggs.
Sperm Donation
Couples in which the husband has no sperm or a very poor semen analysis or when there is a genetic problem which could be inherited from the male, as well as single women and same-sex couples who want a biological child, use sperm donation.
Gestational Carrier (Surrogacy) Services
Bay Area IVF – RSC provides a popular IVF and surrogacy services. The success of this program depends on the generosity of gestational surrogates, women who become pregnant and carry another couple’s baby to term.
Using Donated Embryos
This brief overview of the process of embryo donation will complement a more thorough discussion with your physician, who will offer a more informative and thorough way to make sure you embark upon the most successful course to build a family, specific to your individual needs.
Adoption Resources & Foster Care
Not every one who seeks infertility treatment will become pregnant and deliver a child, even with today’s advanced reproductive technologies. If you have decided to end fertility treatment, you may choose to build a family through adoption.
Wellness and mental health infertility treatment services
Infertility & Wellness Coaching
In addition to in-house counseling, we recommend patients consider infertility and wellness coaching. We offer referrals to Heather R. Huhman, who experienced infertility herself and uses her experience to educate others on proactive wellness strategies.
Infertility Counseling
The treatment of infertility brings cycles of hope and despair – and turns life into an emotional roller coaster. Infertile couples need psychological support, whether it be from family, friends, doctors, counselors, on-line support groups or each other.
Integrative Medicine
Treating patients’ entire well-being instead of targeting a certain condition can be very effective because patients often have more than one factor contributing to their infertility.
