Got Twins? Get Fat!

Patient story | Twins | RSCBARecent data presented at an obstetrical conference reveals that gaining weight in the second trimester is critical for patients with twins. At RSC, our goal is the achievement of a healthy delivery to make a happy family. We know that singleton pregnancies are associated with lower risk to the mom and baby in pregnancy. However, not all of our patients opt to undergo an elective single embryo transfer. And even some that do end up with identical twins (3-4%)! So if you find yourself with twins, gain weight!

Women with inadequate weight gain between 20-28 weeks were twice as likely to deliver before 32 weeks (full term is 40 weeks). 38% of women had a preterm delivery compared to 15% according to the study presented by Dr. Kate Pettit.
