Preparing for Your Treatment

on

We are very excited for your upcoming treatment with RSC! Please review the following to best prepare for a successful outcome

Lab tests/Procedures/Genetic Screening

Your physician and case manager have provided you with a list of the tests recommended prior to proceeding with your cycle. Please complete this testing as soon as possible so that we can address any results needing attention. Your testing needs to be completed before starting any active treatment.

Exercise/Weight/Dietary

Establish a healthy exercise routine that you will be able to continue in pregnancy. Try to optimize body weight to maximize your chances for a healthy pregnancy and delivery. Increase whole grains and fresh fruits/vegetables. Prioritize a balanced diet. Drink plenty of filtered water.

Vitamins/Supplements

Make sure that you are taking a prenatal vitamin that contains at least 800mcg of folic acid. Consider taking Vitamin D 1000-2000IU/day and Fish-oil/DHA 1000mg/day. Ask your physician about CoQ10 or other supplements.

Existing Medical Conditions/Medications

Make sure any current medical conditions are under control before you begin your treatment and that medications used to control them are appropriate during pregnancy. You may be asked to have a preconception counseling appointment with your Ob/Gyn or a Perinatologist (high risk Ob/Gyn).

Preventive Care/Lifestyle/Stress

Make sure that you are up to date with your pap smear, mammogram (if applicable), dental work, and immunizations (such as flu shot). For both women and men, please do your best to avoid smoking, alcohol, and recreational drugs. Minimize caffeine intake. Prioritize sleep and aim for 7-8 hours of sleep each night. Do your best to make the month of your treatment cycle as low-stress as possible. Consider complementary approaches such as acupuncture, mind-body, Reiki, or yoga.

Financial Counseling/Insurance Coverage

Your RSC financial counselor will review the details of your cycle with you. Please make sure that you fully understand the financial aspects of your cycle. If you have insurance, you may need authorization before proceeding or you may need to complete certain tests required by your insurance company. If your insurance covers medication costs, you may need to work with a specific mail-order pharmacy.

Please let your physician or case manager know if you have any questions. We look forward to helping you achieve your pregnancy!
