Bay Area women in Big Tech get help when they freeze eggs

NBC Bay Area interviews RSC of the San Francisco Bay Area’s Dr. Sara Reid regarding social egg freezing. Tech giants and Apple and Facebook appear to have become the first major employers to pay for workers to freeze their eggs for non-medical reasons.

“Women who may not know who they want to have children with or if they want to have children for sure in the future this opens the door for them to keep those options open,” said Dr. Reid. “It’s something we use primarily for women undergoing medical treatment or women undergoing chemotherapy, but now we’re seeing it increasingly for women who’d like to delay childbearing for one reason or another. We’re very excited for anything that improves access for women to additional reproductive choices.”
