IVF Success Story: A Baby At 40

A Reproductive Science Center patient shares an IVF success story and photos. We have a testimonials book in our reception area, and our patient entered this story anonymously.

Hopeful for a baby at 40

We married later in life and found ourselves busy with adjusting to a cross country move, demanding careers and spontaneous travel. We loved our full lives, but something was missing. After many intimate conversations, we found what that was … a baby to complete our family. I had just turned 40 and had heard many stories about how difficult it is to conceive after 35. The clock was ticking, panic set in and we needed to act fast. We wanted to share our IVF success story to inspire others to not give up hope.

Referred to Reproductive Science Center

A friend of mine had started their journey with RSC and recommended that we do the same. We met with Dr. Erin Lewis to discuss our options and left feeling overwhelmed but hopeful. Based on the statistics, we knew that our chances of conceiving were low, but we were willing to do whatever we could to start a family. The result of our first IVF cycle was disappointing – minimal eggs and no healthy embryos. We were heartbroken but determined to keep trying.

Second IVF cycle equals success

A healthy boy embryo was conceived from our second cycle and a healthy girl embryo from our third. The entire RSC staff welcomed us with open arms and were instrumental at keeping us on schedule, providing support and guiding us through each step of the process. This experience can be a roller coaster of emotions, and they provided a listening ear and encouragement along the way. Our miracle baby, Weston Asher, would not be here today if it wasn’t for Dr. Lewis and her team. We are forever grateful!
