Insurance and benefits
California’s expanded fertility coverage is in effect. Since January 2026, most large-group health plans must cover fertility testing and diagnosis, infertility treatment including IVF, up to 3 completed egg retrievals, and unlimited embryo transfers based on clinical guidelines. The law defines infertility inclusively, so LGBTQIA+ individuals, single parents, and others have fair access.
RSC is contracted with these insurance plans:
- Aetna
- Blue Shield of California
- Cigna
- Elevance (Anthem Blue Cross)
- Hills Physicians Medical Group
- John Muir Health
- Sutter Medical
- Sutter Easy Bay
- Tricare
- TriWest
- UnitedHealthcare
- UMR
Benefits vary by plan, and participation doesn’t guarantee coverage. Check with your insurance provider for details on your individual benefits.
Fertility benefit administrators
If your employer offers fertility benefits through a third-party administrator, you may qualify for negotiated preferred rates and streamlined claims processing. RSC works with:
- Carrot
- Maven Clinic
- Progyny
- Optum
- WINFertility (Premier Plan)
Some programs require you to enroll directly with the administrator. Your HR department or your financial educator can confirm your eligibility.
Your financial educator
Every RSC patient has a financial educator who specializes in infertility coverage. Your financial educator will:
- Explain your treatment costs and coverage before you start a cycle
- Ask the right questions to uncover every benefit available to you
- Review your coverage for treatment and fertility medications through our Predetermination of Benefits Program
- File claims and accept assignment of benefit payments when possible, which reduces your upfront costs
More ways to manage cost
- IVF refund and multi-cycle programs: Through Fertility Access, choose a 100 percent refund program (up to 3 retrievals), a 50 percent refund program (up to 2 retrievals), or a multi-cycle discount. Each includes unlimited frozen embryo transfers, and savings reach up to 40 percent.* some exclusions apply
- Financing: CapexMD offers loans from $3,000 to $50,000, repayment terms from 6 to 84 months, and pre-qualification that doesn’t affect your credit.
- Self-pay discounts: Reduced rates on bundled services.
- Grants: RSC supports the Cade Foundation Family Building Grant, which awards up to $10,000. We also match 100 percent of the value of grants from 501(c)(3) organizations, up to 25 percent of the service charge.
- Clinical trials: Qualifying patients can access treatment at reduced or no cost.
