The demand for in vitro fertilization technology is rising, but can needed new research keep up?

Broken down in several chapters, this extensive report features a number of fertility and reproductive experts, including RSC’s Dr. Eduardo Hariton, who share input on the rising demand for in vitro fertilization (IVF).

The journal addresses several challenges of IVF, such as the expense. In most of the world most couples cannot afford IVF. A recent study in lower-income countries found that a single cycle costs between 50% and 200% of people’s average annual income.

Another argument points to the lack of basic research around assisted reproductive technology. But the tide could be turning with new research available and new ways of making babies on the horizon.
