AI Embryo Selection at RSC
The first in the U.S. to bring FDA-cleared AI to embryo assessment
Reproductive Science Center of the San Francisco Bay Area is the first clinic in the country to use Embryo Predict™ by Alife Health as part of routine IVF care — an FDA-cleared artificial intelligence tool designed to support one of the most important decisions in your cycle.
Why AI embryo selection matters
Choosing which embryo to transfer is one of the most consequential decisions in an in vitro fertilization (IVF) cycle. For decades, that decision has depended entirely on the expertise of individual embryologists, extraordinary professionals who apply years of training to assess embryo quality by eye.
Even among the best embryologists, some variability in this decision is a known challenge. Embryo Predict™ addresses that directly
How AI-assisted embryo selection works
Embryo Predict™ uses artificial intelligence trained on thousands of embryo images to analyze blastocysts and generate a data-driven score. That score gives our embryologists an objective, real-time reference point to support their transfer decision, consistent across every cycle, every patient, every time.
Embryo Predict™ is used to evaluate Day 5, 6, and 7 blastocyst-stage embryos that your embryology team has already identified as candidates for transfer. The tool augments the expertise of your embryology team. It does not replace it.
FDA-cleared AI for IVF – and why it matters
Embryo Predict™ is the first IVF AI tool to receive clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. That clearance followed a large, prospective, multi-center randomized controlled trial — the gold standard of clinical evidence — in which RSC’s own clinical and embryology teams participated.
RSC was ready to deploy the tool the moment FDA clearance was granted. That readiness comes from a multi-year infrastructure partnership between RSC, RSC’s parent network, US Fertility, and Alife Health.
“Embryo Predict was validated in a prospective, randomized, multi-center trial — the gold standard of evidence that should be required before AI influences any clinical decision.” — Oleksii Barash, Ph.D., HCLD, IVF Laboratory Director, RSC
What this means for you
Patients at RSC undergoing IVF now have access to AI-assisted embryo selection as an optional add-on to their standard care, the first program of its kind in the country.
If you and your provider decide that Embryo Predict™ is right for you, your embryos will be assessed using AI alongside the expert embryologist team that has been helping families build since 1983.
Experience that moves forward
RSC has supported tens of thousands of families since opening its doors in 1983. Our physicians and embryologists are among the most experienced in the country, with IVF laboratories in San Ramon and Menlo Park serving the entire Bay Area.
Embryo Predict™ is the next step in that commitment — proof that 40 years of experience and the latest science are not in tension. They belong together.
“RSC has always believed that our patients deserve access to the best science available — not eventually, but now.” — Mary Hinckley, M.D., IVF Medical Director, RSC
